Song Tao Holds Video Talks with Boris Gryzlov, Chairman of the United Russia’s Supreme Council

Beijing, November 13th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), held video talks here today with Boris Gryzlov, Chairman of the United Russia’s Supreme Council.

Song expressed, the current COVID-19 pandemic accelerates the complex evolution of changes unseen in a century, and the international landscape is undergoing profound adjustments. To maintain, consolidate and develop China-Russia relations will not only help the two countries realize respective strategic objectives of development and revitalization, but is also conducive to the maintenance of world peace, stability and development. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, General Secretary Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin have maintained close strategic communication, personally led the two sides in the joint fight against the virus and strengthened cooperation in various fields, including economy, trade, science and technology. Maintaining regular dialogue and communication between the ruling parties of China and Russia has played a unique role in the implementing the important consensus reached between the two heads of state, enhancing mutual strategic trust and the promoting the development of China-Russia ties in the new era. The CPC is willing to work with the United Russia party to keep close high-level exchanges and actively contribute wisdom to promoting greater complementarity between strategies and practical cooperation between the two countries through the platforms of the dialogue mechanism between the ruling parties of China and Russia and the China-Russia political party forum.

Song mainly briefed on the spirit of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, saying that the plenary session has fully demonstrated the vision of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core in planning for the future and the historical responsibility to build on past achievements, and injected power of thought and action to secure a new victory in building a thoroughly modern socialist country. China’s development is inseparable from the world, and the world needs China for prosperity, too. During the 14th Five-Year period (2021-2025), China will enter a new stage of development, implement a new development concept, form a new development paradigm, and manage safety issues in all fields and through the whole process of national development. China will also remain committed to building a new system of open economy at higher level, thus providing more opportunities for the common development of countries around the world, including Russia. Song also briefed on the spirit of the speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the celebration event marking the 30th anniversary of the development and opening up of Pudong of Shanghai.

Gryzlov expressed appreciation of the CPC for informing the United Russia party of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and congratulated China on the successful convening of the fifth plenary session. Gryzlov spoke highly of the huge development achievements China has made during the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-2020) under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, and believed that China will successfully implement the CPC Central Committee’s proposals for formulating the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 put forward at the fifth plenary session, and achieve an all-round victory in the cause of building socialist modernization. Gryzlov also introduced Russia’s new national development plan, stressing that Russia and China should take the important consensus reached between the two heads of state as the guidance, strengthen mutual learning of the ruling party’s experience on state governance and administration, support each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests, and continue to deepen the  Russia-China comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era, thus delivering more benefits to the two countries and two peoples.
