Song Tao Meets with Moinul Haque, Pakistani Ambassador to China

Beijing, November 19th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Moinul Haque, Pakistani Ambassador to China. Both sides exchanged views on promoting China-Pakistan relations as well as strengthening exchange and cooperation between political parties of the two countries.

Song expressed, China and Pakistan are all-weather strategic cooperative partners, good neighbors and good brothers. In recent years, with the care and guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping and leaders of the Pakistani side, China-Pakistan relations have made new and important progress. Currently, the COVID-19 pandemic is spreading globally, accelerating changes unseen in a century. The CPC is willing to implement the important consensus reached by General Secretary Xi Jinping and leaders of the Pakistani side, expanding and deepening friendly cooperation with Pakistani political parties and all sectors of society. Taking the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Pakistan as an opportunity, the CPC is willing to strengthen pragmatic cooperation such as the joint construction of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, further consolidate the foundation of China-Pakistan relations, jointly maintain international peace and stability, promote world prosperity and development, and build a community with a shared future for mankind. Song also briefed on the spirit and important content of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee.

Haque congratulated the successful convening of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, saying that 14th Five-Year Plan and 2035 Long-Range Objectives proposal adopted at the fifth plenary session are a new milestone in China’s development, which will not only enable China’s economic and social development to obtain new brilliant achievements, but also provide more opportunities for the development of Pakistan and other Asian countries. Pakistan regards China as its most important and closest friend and partner. The international situation is undergoing complex changes, which makes it particularly important to strengthen Pakistan-China friendly cooperation. The Pakistani side is willing to work with China to intensify exchanges and communication between governments and political parties and other levels, to promote new progress in the construction of the CPEC, and build a closer Pakistan-China Community of Shared Future, so as to play a greater role in maintaining regional and world peace and stability.

After the meeting, Haque, on behalf of Pakistani President Arif Alvi, conferred the award of “Hilal-i-Pakistan” on Song.
