First Webinar for Senior Cadres of Ruling Parties of China and Malawi Held

Beijing, November 24th—The first webinar for senior cadres of political parties of China and Malawi, which was themed on “promoting epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development in a coordinated way”, was held here today. Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Eisenhower Mkaka, Secretary General of Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and Foreign Minister of Malawi attended and addressed the function. Many senior cadres including Richard Chimwendo Banda, Member of National Executive Committee of the MCP and Minister of Homeland Security and Kezzie Kasambala Msukwa, Member of National Executive Committee of the MCP and Minister of Lands were present.

Song mainly introduced the main spirit and important content of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, stressing that the COVID-19 pandemic is still raging throughout the world, exerting severe impact on global economy and social development. Under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, China has taken the lead to put the disease under control, and made important decision on promoting epidemic prevention and control and economic and social development in a coordinated way, achieving remarkable achievements. At the plenary session, the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 were adopted, including the new development paradigm with domestic circulation being the mainstay and the two circulations reinforcing each other. This will not only help China embark on the new journey of fully building a modern socialist country, but will also make new contributions to international efforts to fight the pandemic, promote recovery and seek peace. Various countries across the world, including Malawi, are welcome to grasp China’s new development opportunities, to promote common development.

Song said, both the CPC and the MCP are ruling parties of developing countries. It is the long-cherished dream of the two parties to establish and develop relations. The CPC is willing to take this webinar as an opportunity to establish official relations with the MCP on the basis of the four principles of intra-party exchanges, and jointly guide China-Malawi relations for better and faster development. It is hoped that the two ruling parties will strength high-level dialogue and strategic communication, conduct exchanges and mutual learning on issues including anti-corruption, poverty alleviation, and party building at primary level, facilitate the integration between the 14th Five-Year Plan and Malawi's "five development programmes", actively promote the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity Against COVID-19, advance the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Cooperation, strengthen solidarity and cooperation in international and multilateral affairs, jointly safeguard legitimate rights of developing countries and world fairness and justice, and work together to build a closer community with a shared future for China and Malawi, so as to better benefit the two countries and two peoples.

Mkaka warmly congratulated on the successful convening of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, spoke highly of China’s development achievements made under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, and thanked the Chinese side for the valuable support for its fight against the epidemic and economic and social development. Mkaka said, establishing official relationship with the CPC is the long-cherished dream of the MCP, and the dream has finally come true today. The MCP is willing to take it as a new starting point to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC and push relations between the two countries for further development. The MCP will continue to follow a policy of amity with China, uphold the One China policy, and support and coordinate with the Chinese side in international affairs. The MCP hopes to learn the experience in state governance and administration from the CPC, in a bid to better boost economic and social development of Malawi.
