Song Tao Briefs the CPV on the Spirit of the Fifth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee

Beijing, November 30th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), appointed by the CPC Central Committee, briefed the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on the spirit of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee. The briefing session, held via videolink, was attended by cadres from the CPV and Vietnamese government including Hoang Binh Quan, Head of the Commission for External Relations of the CPV Central Committee and Pham Sao Mai, Vietnamese Ambassador to China.

Song said that the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee was held at a historic moment when China is to achieve its first centenary goal. It is a meeting of overall and historical significance, which fully embodies the vision and historical responsibility of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. The plenary session summarized and spoke highly of China’s historic accomplishments during the 13th Five-Year period (2016-2020), adopted the proposals for the 14th Five Year Plan and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035, and put forward grasping the new stage of development, firmly implementing the new concept of development and actively building a new paradigm of development in a scientific way. It marks that guided by the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, China will soon embark on a new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way. The fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee will not only inject new impetus into China's development, but also provide more development opportunities for Vietnam and other countries in the world.

Song stressed that China and Vietnam share the same political systems and ideals and beliefs. With the personal promotion of the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries, the traditional friendship between the two countries has been continuously consolidated and new progress has been made in exchanges and cooperation in various fields. This year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Vietnam. The CPC stands ready to work together with the CPV, well implement the important consensus reached by top leaders of both parties and the two countries, enhance political mutual trust, properly handle sensitive issues, lead the development and prosperity of respective countries, promote the new achievements of bilateral cooperation, and make contributions to safeguarding regional and world common development. The CPC supports the CPV in successfully holding its 13th National Congress and is willing to provide assistance within its capacity for Vietnam's socialist construction.

Hoang congratulated on the convening of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, and thanked China for briefing on the main spirit and content of the fifth plenary session. He said that Vietnam admires China's remarkable development achievements under the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core and believed that it showcases the vitality of the socialist system, and inspires the socialist countries such as Vietnam to continue to advance various undertakings. The CPV and the CPC both adhere to the people-centered governance concept. The successful experience of the CPC in its decisive battle against poverty is of great significance to Vietnam. It is hoped that the external departments of the two parties will actively facilitate bilateral exchanges and cooperation at all levels, maintain close coordination and communication in regional and international affairs and contribute to the stable and sound development of Vietnam-China relations. Hoang also briefed on the preparations for the 13th CPV National Congress.

Wang Yajun, Vice-minister of the IDCPC, and Xiong Bo, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam, were present at the meeting.
