Xiamen, December 8th—Guo Yezhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee and Co-Chairman of the Council of the Silk Road Think Tank Association (SRTA), attended here on the morning the BRICS Forum on Partnership on New Industrial Revolution and made a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. In the presence of representatives of the BRICS and relevant international organizations, the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution innovation center was launched.

Guo noted, the launching of the innovation center marks the BRICS Forum on Partnership on New Industrial Revolution has gradually been implemented, which will provide an important platform for the BRICS to generate new momentum for development through technological innovation and digital transformation in the new industrial revolution. Guo put forward four proposals on how to promote the in-depth development of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution through the building of the innovation center. First, we must let development play the leading role and jointly realize high-quality development. Second, we must take digitalization as the main task and jointly forge “digital BRICS”. Third, we must take opening-up and innovation as the principle and jointly build the new highland for innovation cooperation. Fourth, we must take a people-centered approach and facilitate inclusive development together. He said the SRTA Council is willing to fully play a supporting role and fully support Xiamen in building the innovation center.

The Forum was co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Xiamen Municipal People's Government and the SRTA Council. Xiao Yaqing, Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Alexey Gruzdev, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and Li Yong, Director General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization delivered speeches via videolink. Wang Ning, Deputy Secretary of CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Governor of Fujian, Hu Changsheng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee, Anil Kishora, Vice President of the New Development Bank and others were present and delivered speeches. Over 300 participants were present, including representatives from the members of the Chinese Working Mechanism of the BRICS Partnership on New Industrial Revolution, representatives from local departments of Fujian Province, Xiamen City, representatives from governments, enterprises and think tanks of the BRICS, and representatives from international organizations attended the forum online or offline.
