CPC Holds Video Talks with Vanuaaku Party of Vanuatu

Beijing, December 14th—the CPC held video talks here today with the Vanuaaku Party of Vanuatu with the theme of "Deepening Cooperation and Seeking Common Development". Bob Loughman, President of the Vanuaaku Party and Prime Minister of Vanuatu, and Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee attended and addressed the opening ceremony. The main leaders of the Vanuaaku Party, members of the government of Vanuatu and the parliament of Vanuatu were present.

Song emphatically introduced the main spirit and important content of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee. He said, the current epidemic and the changes unseen in a century are intertwined at present. China and Vanuatu are developing countries, and both are exploring independent development paths that suit our national conditions. It is of great significance for both sides to share the experience in state governance and administration. China will strengthen solidarity and cooperation with developing countries including Vanuatu, adhere to multilateralism and practice the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, take an active part in the reform and building of the global governance system, and jointly tackle the impact of climate change. The CPC will celebrate its 100th anniversary and the Vanuaaku Party will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2021. The Chinese side is willing to take this opportunity to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two parties, deepen mutual learning, and promote bilateral practical cooperation in various fields under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, so as to promote long-term, healthy and stable development of China-Vanuatu relations and better benefit the two peoples.

Loughman spoke highly of the significance of the successful convening of the fifth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee for China and the world, and commended China's remarkable achievements in epidemic containment and economic development. Loughman thanked the Chinese side for its valuable support for Vanuatu's fight against the epidemic as well as for its economic and social recovery. He said, Vanuatu will firmly adhere to the one-China policy, support the UN-centered multilateral system, and respond to challenges including the COVID-19 epidemic together with the world. The Vanuaaku Party hopes to learn from the CPC's experience in party governance and state administration, and is committed to achieving people-centered high-quality development, strengthening practical cooperation with the Chinese side, and jointly contributing to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Guo Yezhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the opening ceremony. Zhou Haicheng, Chinese Ambassador to Vanuatu, and the responsible officials of the CPC Shenzhen Municipal Committee and Shenzhen Municipal People's Government were present.
