On January 26th, Li Mingxiang, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, held a video call with Simon Compaore, President of Burkina Faso's People's Movement for Progress (MPP). Li Jian, Chinese Ambassador to Burkina Faso and Adama Compaore, Burkina Faso’s Ambassador to China attended the event via videolink. 

Li congratulated the MPP for winning the presidential and legislative elections again. He thanked Burkina Faso for upholding the One China policy and giving firm support to China on issues involving China’s core interests and major concerns, and said that the CPC is willing to build a new type of relationship between the two Parties featuring seeking common ground while reserving differences, mutual respect, and mutual learning, and continuously strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the two Parties to lead the in-depth development of China-Burkina Faso relations. Li said that the year 2020 will be an extraordinary year. Under the intertwined situation of the pandemic and the changes unseen in a century, China has achieved decisive success in building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way and fighting poverty alleviation. The total economic volume has exceeded 100 trillion yuan for the first time. The hard-won achievements are attributed to the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, the scientific guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, and the advantages of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. The year 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the CPC’s founding and the first year of the “14th Five-Year Plan”. Keeping a foothold in a new development stage, we will follow a new development philosophy and foster a new development paradigm, follow the principles of sincerity, real results, amity and good faith in China's relations with Africa, strengthen the integration of the development strategies between China and Africa and between China and Burkina Faso and deepen political mutual trust and pragmatic cooperation as well as work together to maintain multilateralism and a fair and just international order to promote the building of a stronger China-Africa community with a shared future.

Compaore congratulated on the 100th anniversary of the CPC’s founding and sincerely admired the world-renowned development achievements the Chinese people have made under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee China with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. Compaore said that President Xi Jinping advocates the maintenance and practice of multilateralism, injecting strong impetus into the international community's joint response to the pandemic and economic recovery, and bringing hope and strength to the common development of developing countries including Burkina Faso. The MPP thanks the Chinese side for its tremendous support for the development of Burkina Faso in various fields, and is willing to strengthen experience exchanges in state governance and administration and cadre training with the CPC, so as to promote continuous progress in Burkina Faso-China cooperation in various fields and benefit the two peoples.
