The Stories of CPC” Thematic Briefing on Xinjiang Held in Urumqi

Urumqi, February 22nd—the International Department of the Central Committee of the CPC (IDCPC) and the CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee co-organized here today the Stories of CPC” Thematic Briefing on Xinjiang. With the theme of “A Better Life for All”, the event expounded in depth the original missions of the CPC to seek for happiness for the people and national

rejuvenation, as well as the historic achievements and changes the Chinese people have made under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, especially since the 18th CPC National Congress. The thematic briefing mainly briefed on the wonderful stories of people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang in working hard to forge ahead, doing a good bit in ethnic unity, and striving for a better life under the leadership of the CPC. A total of over 310 political heavyweights and prominent personages representing more than 190 political parties and organizations from 80-plus countries attended the event via videolink. The briefing was broadcast live to the world in English, French and Arabic.

Chen Quanguo, Secretary of the CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee, pointed out that since the 18th CPC National Congress, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, the CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee has adhered to the people-centered development ideology, and has made unprecedented achievements in promoting Xinjiang’s economic and social development and improvement of people’s livelihood. The senses of gain, happiness, and security have been significantly enhanced, and Xinjiang has seen a good situation of social stability and people living and working in peace. Chen shared seven stories with guests about Xinjiang’s poverty alleviation, epidemic prevention and control, high-quality economic development, improvement of people’s life, national unity and progress, religious harmony, counter-terrorism and de-radicalization. Chen said that everything Xinjiang has done is in an upright and open manner and aims to benefit people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang. We will work hard to build a socialist Xinjiang with Chinese characteristics in a new era, so as to better serve the interests, health and well-being of people in Xinjiang. Xinjiang is a good place. Song Tao, Minister of the IDCPC, said that the CPC has led the people of all ethnic groups across the country to work together for a better life, creating a miracle of rapid economic development and long-term social stability. Some international forces ignore the facts that people of all ethnic groups in Xinjiang are living a good life, and make all kinds of lies and fallacies with an attempt to discredit and undermine the rights of people in Xinjiang for a good life. Such deeds violate international morality and human conscience, and have been criticized, resolutely opposed and strongly condemned by the people of all ethnic groups in China. The CPC is willing to deepen the exchange of experiences in state governance with political parties around the world, strive to realize the people's yearning for a better life, and promote the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Centering on protecting people’s health and safety, poverty alleviation and ethnic unity, Shohrat Zakir, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regional Committee and Chairman of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and representatives of the people from all walks of life in Xinjiang shared the stories of the economic and social development of Xinjiang and people’s happy lives in Xinjiang with the guests, and answered nearly 20 questions raised from the guests covering Xinjiang’s economic development, improvement of people’s livelihood, and maintenance of ethnic unity.

Lord Fakafanua, Tonga's Speaker of Parliament; Qasim Khan Suri, Leader of the Pakistan Movement for Justice and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan; Tep Ngorn, Member of Central Standing Committee of the Cambodian People's Party and 2nd Vice President of the Senate; Zulkifli Hasan, General Chairman of Indonesia's PAN Party and Vice-Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly of Indonesia; Ibrahima, Vice-President of the Union for the Republic and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Togo; Slimane El Omrani, Deputy General Secretary of the Justice and Development Party of Morocco and Deputy Speaker of Moroccan House of Representatives; António Filipe, Member of Portuguese Communist Party and Deputy Speaker of the Assembly of Portugal and other political heavyweights said that through this briefing, they learned more about the development achievements of Xinjiang in various aspects. They expressed their opposition to the politicization of human rights or the “double standards” in human rights, and believed that the so-called “genocide” and “forced labor” in Xinjiang are utterly lies and false information and that such claims are trying to call black white and have mislead the perception of the international community. They also reached the consensus on opposing interference in the internal affairs of other countries under the pretext of human rights, and opposing the malicious hyping and smear attacks. The political parties expressed their willingness to work with the CPC to strengthen the exchange of experience in state governance, promote practical cooperation among countries, and jointly benefit all countries and peoples.
