Chen Zhou Attends Annual Meeting of Friends of Silk Road Club

Beijing, March 10th—Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee,, attended the first annual meeting of the Friends of the Silk Road Club and delivered a keynote speech. The principals of the Friends of the Silk Road Club of six countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Malaysia,  made work summaries and plans for 2021.

Chen spoke highly of the outstanding achievements of the Friends of the Silk Road Club since its founding two years ago, especially in 2020. He said that the Chinese side is willing to join hands with the six partners, take the opportunity brought by such important occasions as the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, focus on the Belt and Road Initiative, expand cooperation fields, and deliver more tangible results, so as to contribute to bilateral relations and regional peace and stability.

The principals of the Friends of the Silk Road Club of the six countries congratulated on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC, and said they are willing to provide suggestions on how to deepen the Belt and Road cooperation, facilitating the integration with China’s new development paradigm and promoting closer people-to-people bonds. They will continue to give full play to the role of the Friends of the Silk Road Club as a bridge to enhance trust, reduce misgivings, pool consensus and advance cooperation, with a view to supporting, voicing, and creating the momentum for regional cooperation and people’s friendship.
