Song Tao Holds a Video Call with Raphael Tuju, Secretary General of Kenya's Jubilee Party

Beijing, March 17th--Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), held a video call here with Raphael Tuju, Secretary General of Kenya's Jubilee Party.

Song said that in recent years, thanks to the care, guidance and promotion of President Xi Jinping and President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, China-Kenya comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership has developed rapidly. After the outbreak of the COVID-19, the two sides joined hands and wrote a moving chapter of unity in the fight against the epidemic. Changes unseen in a century, coupled with the global COVID-19 pandemic, have an impact on the international situation. China is willing to work with Kenya to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, enhance inter-party exchanges and strategic communication, strengthen exchanges of experience in state governance, and deepen practical cooperation in various fields including cooperation in fighting against the pandemic, jointly safeguard multilateralism and the interests of developing countries, and promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Song mainly briefed on China's NPC and CPPCC Sessions held not long ago, saying that the meeting reviewed and adopted the Outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025) for National Economic and Social Development and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035, which not only draw a blueprint for China’s development, but will also provide a larger market and more development opportunities for countries all over the world, including Kenya. It is hoped that both sides will jointly promote the integration of China's development plan and long-term goals with the Kenya Vision 2030 and its four national development goals, so as to better benefit the two countries and the two peoples.

Song said that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. Since its founding, the CPC has upheld its original mission of seeking happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation, and has explored a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics that suits the national conditions. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, China has made new development achievements that have amazed the world. General Secretary Xi recently announced that China has lifted all rural poor population under the current standard out of poverty. At present, our party is carrying out a campaign of party history learning and education, with the purpose of enabling the whole party to move forward with the wisdom and strength from the party's hundred years of struggle. We are confident that under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, we will write a new chapter in the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

Tuju warmly congratulated on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and the successful convening of China's NPC and CPPCC Sessions. He spoke highly of the CPC Central Committee’s adherence to the people-centered development philosophy, and the great achievements China has made under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core in pandemic prevention and control and poverty alleviation. Tuju thanked China for its valuable support for Kenya's fight against the pandemic and economic and social development, and believed that China's successful experience is of great significance to the world. The Jubilee Party cherishes the friendly relationship with the CPC, firmly supports China’s position concerning its core interests such as Hong Kong-related issues, and looks forward to strengthening strategic mutual trust, exchanges and mutual learning of experience in party governance and state administration, deepening cooperation in infrastructure construction and other fields, and upholding multilateralism, so as to meet the challenges of the times together.
