The meeting focused on conveying, studying and implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important statements on the Party’s external work, reviewing and summarizing the progress and achievements of the Party’s external work in the past two years under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, and introducing the Party’s work and key points in the next stage. Participants had in-depth exchanges and discussions on how to optimize the Party’s external work layout in the new development stage, build a new development paradigm, and create a good external environment for the "14th Five-Year Plan", so as to embrace and servive for the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC with excellent results.

Song pointed out that the important instructions of General Secretary Xi have provided fundamental guidance and action guidelines for the Party’s external work in the new era. Studying and implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important statements on the Party’s external work is an important political task of the Party’s external work front at present and for a period of time in the future. It is also an important manifestation and internal requirement of practicing the "two upholds” of upholding General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole, and upholding the Party Central Committee’s authority and its centralized, unified leadership.

Song said that in recent years, the Party’s external work has fully play the role of an important front of the party, an important component of the country’s overall diplomacy, and an important manifestation of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics. It has promoted Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era in an in-depth manner, and has been actively involving in serving the work of the Party and the national development and General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important diplomatic agenda, striving to build global party partnerships, and vividly telling the CPC’s stories, especially the decisive victories in fighting the epidemic, fighting poverty, and building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way. The Party’s external work has resolutely safeguarded national sovereignty, security and development interests, created a good external environment for the development of the Party and the country, and made new positive contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind. More and more foreign political parties hope to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with our Party, learn from China's experience and the CPC’s wisdom. Our Party’s international influence and appeal has been further strengthened.

Song stressed that the world today is undergoing profound changes unseen in a century, which are further accelerated by the pandemic. The international landscape has further developed in a direction that is favorable to China. We must keep in mind the overall strategy of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and the major changes in the world unseen in a century, accurately grasp the general trend of the evolution of the international landscape, grasp the major changes in the global governance system, and understand the major trends of the world politics and political parties. We should promote the building of a new type of relations between countries through building a new type of party relations, promote the building of a new type of relationship between China and the world by advancing the building of a new type of relations between the CPC and political parties around the globe, and make new and greater contributions to the undertakings of the Party and the country.

Song said that the year 2021 marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and is the first year of implementing the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035. We need to take embracing and serving the centennial of the Party as a main task throughout the year, keep enhancing our capacity for political judgment, thinking, and implementation, promote Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, improve awareness and ability to serve the new development paradigm, and well handle a series of important events in Party’s exchanges. We need to optimize the layout of the Party’s external work, deepen the “political party +” cooperation, actively support the opening up and development of various departments and localities, and consolidate and improve the general situation. We need to keep to the right path and make innovations, forge ahead with solid progress, and work together to do a good job in the Party’s external work in the new era, and celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC with outstanding achievements.
