Beijing, April 7th—The Communist Party of China (CPC) and Baath Party, Syria's ruling party, held the first webinar for mid-level and senior cadres themed on CPC's experience in poverty alleviation. Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), and Mahdi Dakhlallah, member of the central leadership of Syria's al-Baath Party, attended and addressed the opening ceremony, with nearly 30 mid-level and senior cadres from the Baath Party present.

Song Tao said, this year marks both the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Syria and the 35th anniversary of the establishment of inter-party relations between the CPC and the Baath Party of Syria. Thanks to the personal guidance of leaders of both parties, recent years have seen stable development of relationship between China and Syria and that between the two parties, and further enhancement of political mutual trust and friendship between the two peoples. As the world is caught between a pandemic of the century and changes unseen in a century, the CPC is willing to, together with the Baath Party of Syria, increase mutual learning on experience in state governance and administration, and continue to support each other on issues regarding core interests and major concerns of both sides. Both sides will promote cooperation in various fields, such as the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative and people-to-people exchanges for new achievements, jointly safeguard the international system with the United Nations at the core and the international order underpinned by international law, thus promoting international fairness and justice, and actively building a community with shared future for mankind.

Song Tao elaborated on the major achievements and successful experience of the CPC over the past century since its founding, saying that firmly upholding the authority of the CPCCC and its centralized and unified leadership is the fundamental guarantee for China's victory in all causes. Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, China, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, has made historic achievements and historic changes in its economic and social development, and achieved decisive victories in poverty alleviation and building a moderately prosperous society in all respects. The Chinese people, under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, are forging ahead confidently towards building a modern socialist country in all respects. China's new development paradigm and opening-up of a higher level will not only inject new impetus into its own economic and social development, but will also provide more opportunities for the development of all countries, including Syria, and deliver better benefits to people of all countries.

Mahdi Dakhlallah warmly congratulated the CPC on the 100th anniversary of its founding. He spoke highly of the brilliant achievements of the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC, China’s historic role in the progress of mankind as well as the important contributions made by Chinese civilization to the world. Dahali said that the CPC has provided innovative Chinese approaches for global development. The Baath Party of Syria attaches great importance to the traditional friendly relations with the CPC. It will, under the guidance of the consensus reached by the top leaders of the two parties and two countries, strengthen political mutual trust and practical cooperation in various fields with the Chinese side, such as exchanges of experience and practices in poverty alleviation, so as to promote greater development of Syria-China relations. Firmly supporting the One China principle, the Syrian side resolutely opposes the interference in other countries' internal affairs in name of human rights. It is willing to continue to strengthen cooperation with China to safeguard world peace and development.
