From May 27th to 28th, the Virtual China Ireland Business Summit 2021 was held in Cork, Ireland. Guo Yezhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, made a keynote speech via videolink. Martin Heydon, Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine; Dr.Orlaigh Quinn, Secretary General of the Department of Enterprise, Trade & Employment; and Councillor Mary Foley, Mayor of the County of Cork attended and addressed the event.

Guo briefed on Xi Jinping Thoughts on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the "14th Five-Year" Plan and the long-range objectives through 2035. He emphasized that China’s development will bring opportunities to countries in the world, including Ireland, and hope that Ireland will meet China halfway, and work together to promote the two countries to strengthen practical cooperation in various fields and share a bright future.

The China Ireland Business Summit, organized by Asia Matters, an Irish non-profit organization, aims to promote China-Ireland economic and trade cooperation and promote the healthy and stable development of bilateral relations. The theme of this summit is China Ireland Business Partnership in the Post Covid World Economy.
