On the afternoon of May 27, Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the online awarding ceremony of a writing competition co-hosted by China and the South Asian research association of Marxist in the 21st century[u1] . The theme of the competition was CPC’s theory, practice, and institutional innovation in the past 100 years – theoretical thought from the perspective of global socialist movements.

Chen noted that the CPC has always persisted in integrating the basic principles of Marxism with China’s reality into account and furthered theoretical innovation. Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012 in particular, Chinese Communists represented by Comrade Xi Jinping have created Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, a theory which opened new dimensions in the theoretical framework of the socialism with Chinese characteristics and charted a course in Marxism of the 21st century. Moreover, its establishment is China’s contribution to launching world socialist movements and promoting common progress of developing countries.

Foreign participants congratulated the CPC on its centenary and praised China’s glorious achievements in revolution, development and reform. They particularly praised the Chinese people’s efforts in preventing and controlling the COVID-19, alleviating poverty and exploring new ways of development under the leadership of CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core as well as China’s philosophy of a community with a shared future for mankind. In completing these tasks, the CPC has showed its outstanding leadership and a sense of responsibility as a great party of a major country. Going forward, they expected the CPC to guide the global socialist movements to march forward.

During the ceremony, guests also took a look at the Red Boat in Nanhu Lake, Jiaxing city, Zhejiang province, where the very first CPC National Congress was held, during a live-streaming session.
