Beijing, June 8th—Qian Hongshan, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee held a meeting here on the morning with Nicolas Chapuis, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to China at request. Both sides exchanged views on China-EU relations, China-EU political party interactions as well as relevant regional and international issues.

Qian Hongshan expressed, China remains committed to viewing China-EU relations from a strategic perspective, and believes cooperation is the overall direction and keynote of China-EU relations. China stands ready to strengthen dialogue and exchanges with the EU side, continue to enhance mutual trust and reduce misgivings and deepen practical cooperation, thus promoting the sound and stable development of China-EU relations in the long run.

Nicolas Chapuis noted, the EU side is willing to work with China to consolidate the political foundation, reach more cooperation consensuses, and properly handle each other’s concerns based on the principle of mutual respect, thus advancing EU-China relations.
