Beijing, July 30th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, held a video call here today with Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Leader of the Workers' Party and former President of Brazil.

Song first thanked the Workers' Party's recent congratulatory message on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. Song said, China has always viewed and developed China-Brazil relations from a strategic and long-term perspective. In recent years, the CPC and the Workers' Party have had close exchanges at various levels. After the outbreak of Covid-19, the two sides have conducted exchanges and cooperation in epidemic prevention and control as well as the resumption of work and production, making contributions to promoting the friendship between the two peoples and relations between our two countries. The CPC is willing to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries with the Workers' Party, strengthen high-level exchanges, and deepen mutual learning in party building, economic development, social governance, and poverty alleviation, in a bid to improve governance capabilities of both sides. It is hoped that the two sides will further expand cooperation in people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and cooperation at local levels, so as to continue to cement the social and public opinion foundation of China-Brazil friendship.

Song said, at present, changes and a pandemic both unseen in a century have brought a serious impact on the international community, but peace and development are still the themes of the times, and all parties need to firmly support multilateralism and international cooperation. The COVID-19 origin tracing is a serious scientific issue. China has always maintained an open, transparent, and responsible attitude to take the lead to support the WHO in conducting researches on origin-tracing on a global scale. It is believed that the Workers' Party will hold a scientific and fair position to work with China to oppose politicizing the COVID-19 origin tracing and stigmatizing the virus, and jointly promote global anti-epidemic cooperation as well as economic and social development.

Song mainly introduced the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech at the celebration marking the centenary of the CPC to the Brazilian side. He said, General Secretary Xi Jinping has systematically reviewed the glorious course, great achievements and valuable experience of the CPC's centurial efforts, declared that China has realized the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects, and has pointed out that China will stick to the path of peaceful development and promote the building of a new type of international relations and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, providing new opportunities for the world with its own development. China attaches importance to Brazil's important role in international and regional affairs. The CPC is willing to strengthen international cooperation with the Workers' Party to jointly safeguard international fairness and justice and build a better world.

Lula warmly congratulated on the centenary of the CPC, and spoke highly of the remarkable development achievements the Chinese people have made under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, and believed that China’s successful experience is a great reference for developing countries including Brazil. Lula said, the Workers' Party attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with the CPC and is willing to strengthen inter-party exchanges and experience exchanges in party governance with the CPC. He thanked China for its valuable support for Brazil's fight against the Covid-19, and hoped to continue to strengthen cooperation with China in anti-epidemic cooperation. It is hoped that the two sides will strengthen communication on international and regional affairs, jointly champion multilateralism, and resolutely oppose unilateralism and hegemonism, so as to contribute to world peace and development.
