Beijing, September 13th—The 12th China-US Political Party Leaders Dialogue, co-organized by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC) and the US Democratic Party and Republican Party, was held here today via video link.

Song Tao, Minister of the IDCPC, attended the dialogue, and said that President Xi Jinping and US President Joe Biden had a phone conversation again lately, charting the course for the development of China-US relations in the future. Both sides should implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, strengthen dialogue, meet each other halfway, and create conditions for bilateral relations to return to the right track of stable development.

Song said, the dialogue is conducive to enhancing communication, understanding, and mutual trust between the two countries. China is willing to work with the two parties of the United States to give full play to the political leading role of political parties in relations between states. China would also promote the two sides to strengthen coordination and cooperation based on respecting each other's core interests and major concerns and properly managing differences to provide positive factors for the stable development of bilateral relations.

Howard Dean, Representative of the Democratic Party, former Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and former Governor of Vermont, and Carla Hills, Representative of the Republican Party, former US Trade Representative, and former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development said that the US-China relationship is the most important bilateral relationship in the world and the China-US Political Party Leaders Dialogue is an important part of bilateral relations. For some time, bilateral relations had some difficult moments. But the two countries share many common interests and need more high-level dialogues to increase trust, advance cooperation, promote the two countries' development and jointly address global challenges.

About 50 representatives from China’s ministries, committees and universities as well as from the US Democratic Party and Republican Party, major think tanks and enterprises of the US were present.
