Song Tao Holds Video Talks with Members of the SRTA International Advisory Board

Beijing, October 25th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), held video talks here today with members of the International Advisory Board of the Silk Road Think Tank Association (SRTA), including Danilo Türk, former Slovenian President, Essam Abdel-Aziz Sharaf, former Egyptian Prime Minister, and Zlatko Lagumdžija, former Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Song said, General Secretary Xi Jinping put forward the Belt and Road Initiative from the perspective of promoting common development of mankind, which has drawn a lot of attention and received positive responses from the international community. Since the outbreak of Covid-19, the world economy has been seriously impacted, but China’s trade and investment with the countries along the Belt and Road Initiative has risen against the trend, and its frontier areas such as the Digital Silk Road and the Health Silk Road have shown strong development momentum. Under the new situation, China is willing to work with all parties to explore methods and paths to further advance the Belt and Road cooperation, further strengthen cooperation in such fields as hygiene, health, green development, and digital economy, and better share its new development opportunities with the countries along the Belt and Road Initiative, with a view to making greater contributions to peace and development of mankind.

Song emphatically introduced the remarkable achievements and successful experience China has gained under the strong leadership of the CPC with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core over the past century since the CPC's founding, especially since the 18th CPC National Congress. He said, in the course of our struggles over the past century, the CPC has hoped that peoples of all countries will also lead a happy and peaceful life while the Chinese people enjoy good momentum in development. Today coincides with the 50th anniversary of the restoration of New China’s lawful seat in the United Nations. President Xi Jinping attended the Conference Marking the 50th Anniversary of the Restoration of the Lawful Seat of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations in Beijing and delivered an important speech. In his speech, President Xi Jinping noted that the past five decades since New China restored its lawful seat in the United Nations have witnessed China's peaceful development and its commitment and dedication to the welfare of all humanity. China will be happy to work with all countries under the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, advocate the common values of humanity, practice true multilateralism, and work tirelessly for the lasting and peaceful development of the world and for building a community with a shared future for mankind. Song Tao also introduced the Global Development Initiative proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping at the 76th UN General Assembly and the spirit of the important speech by Xi Jinping at a central conference on work related to people's congresses held recently.

Türk, Sharaf, Lagumdžija and others at the meeting warmly congratulated the CPC on its 100th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the restoration of New China’s lawful seat in the United Nations, and spoke highly of the world-renowned achievements the Chinese people have made under the leadership of the CPC in poverty alleviation and common prosperity. They also highly praised the Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative and the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. They said, under the leadership of the CPC, China has become an important leadership in promoting world peace and development as well as the common progress of mankind. They are willing to strengthen the exchange of experience in state governance and administration with the CPC, deepen the Belt and Road cooperation, promote cooperation with China in economic recovery, fighting against Covid-19, addressing climate change, jointly upholding multilateralism and the international system with the United Nations as the core, promoting the development of the international order in a more just and reasonable direction, so as to better benefit the people of all countries.
