Beijing, November 22nd—The International Department of the CPC Central Committee held here via video link a briefing on the spirit of the sixth plenary session of 19th CPC Central Committee for left-wing political parties in South Asian countries and a seminar on state governance and party building. Nanda Kishor Pun, Vice President of Nepal and leader of the Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana, Sri Lanka's Speaker of Parliament, Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Dilip Barua, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (Marxist-Leninist) attended and addressed the function. About 300 representatives were present, including leaders of nearly 20 left-wing political parties in South Asian countries, representatives of regional and international left-wing organizations, think tanks and media.

Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, mainly briefed on the great significance, rich connotation, and global influence of the sixth plenary session of 19th CPC Central Committee. He stressed that socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of China with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core has led the the whole Party, the military, and Chinese people of all ethnic groups to forge ahead, and built a moderately prosperous society on schedule. Historic achievements and historic shifts have been made in the cause of the Party and the country, indicating the great vitality of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The Chinese nation has achieved the tremendous transformation from standing up and growing prosperous to becoming strong. The Party has established Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defined the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. This is of decisive significance for advancing the cause of the Party and the country in the new era and for driving forward the historic process of national rejuvenation.

Song said, over the past 100 years, the CPC has pursued happiness for its people, rejuvenation for the nation, and the common good for the world, and has all along focused on the destiny of mankind from a global perspective. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, Chinese communists, with Comrade Xi Jinping as their chief representative, have established Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era on the basis of adapting the basic tenets of Marxism to China’s specific realities and China; fine traditional culture, stayed committed to building a new type of international relations and a community with a shared future for mankind, advocated the common values of humanity, and guided the development and progress of humanity. The CPC is willing to, together with left-wing political parties in South Asian countries, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning in theory, path and party building, deepen understanding of the laws underlying governance by a communist party, the building of socialism, and the development of human society, stay true to our original aspiration of seeking happiness for the people and build the world a better place.

Representatives of left-wing political parties in South Asian countries and other foreign guests warmly congratulated on the successful convening of the sixth plenary session of 19th CPC Central Committee, spoke highly of the adoption of the Resolution on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century. They believed that the resolution revealed the reasons of the CPC’s success, and fully embodied the advantages of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is the important development of Marxism, exerting great influence on China and the world. CPC’s experience in state governance and administration has not only charted the course for China’s development in the future, but is also worth learning for developing countries and other countries in the world. Under the strong leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping, China has fulfilled the First Centenary Goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and is moving on toward the Second Centenary Goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects. Left-wing political parties in South Asian countries cherish their traditional friendship with the CPC, thanked the Chinese side for the precious support in combating the COVID-19 and economic and social development, and expect to learn the successful experience from the CPC. They are ready to, together with the CPC, strengthen cooperation in party building, economy, trade and people-to-people engagement, jointly practice multilateralism, and safeguard regional peace and stability.

At the briefing, representatives of left-wing political parties in South Asian countries had an online tour to the Party branch of Yangcun Village, Shangbei Town, Xingtang County, Hebei Province to learn about primary-level Party organization’s practices in strengthening party building and boosting local development.

Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, presided over the meeting. Li Junru, former vice president of the Party School of the Central Committee of CPC, and former Deputy Director of Party History Research Center of the CPC Central Committee and Qin Gang, former Director of research center of scientific socialism of the Party School of the Central Committee of CPC, were present.
