Beijing, November 23rd—Appointed by the CPC Central Committee, Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), briefed Ri Ryong Nam, DPRK’s representative and Ambassador to China, on the spirit of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee.

Song mainly briefed the DPRK side on the profound significance, content and spirit of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, saying that the session, held at a critical juncture in the history of China’s development, carries great historical significance. At the session, the CPC Central Committee reviewed and discussed the report on the work of the Political Bureau, presented by Xi Jinping on behalf of the Political Bureau, and considered and adopted the Resolution on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century and the Resolution on the Convocation of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. The session comprehensively reviewed the struggle, major achievements and precious historical experience of the Party over the past century, especially the historical achievements and reform in the cause of the Party and the country in the new era. This is of great significance for the whole Party to stay true to its founding mission, uniting and leading the Chinese people of all ethnic groups to secure the great success of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. 

Song emphasized that a strong leadership and a scientific theoretical guidance are fundamental to the future of the Party and the country and the success of the causes of the Party and the people. It was stated in the resolution that establishing Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defining the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era reflects the common will of the Party, the armed forces, and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, and is of decisive significance for advancing the causes of the Party and the country in the new era and for driving forward the historic process of national rejuvenation.

Song said that the CPC pursues happiness for its people, rejuvenation for the nation, progress for mankind, and the common good for the world. The CPC is willing to work with political parties all over the world, including Workers’ Party of Korea of the DPRK, to contribute wisdom and strengths to the progress of mankind civilization.    

On behalf of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Ri Ryong Nam warmly congratulated on the success of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and spoke highly of the Resolution on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century adopted at the session. He expressed that, under the strong leadership of CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, China has successfully achieved the first Centenary Goal and is taking a giant step forward towards the second Centenary Goal. At this very juncture, the CPC has adopted the resolution of major historic significance, which will help build a broader consensus and stronger unity in will and action among all Party members, the armed forces, and the Chinese people of all ethnic groups, and constantly achieve new and greater success on the new journey in the new era.

The two sides also exchanged views on China-DPRK relations and agreed that, as socialist countries led by communist parties, China and the DPRK should make joint efforts in implementing the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries. Both sides should safeguard, solidify and develop the conventional China-DPRK friendship, enhance exchanges and cooperation and push forward the development of China-DPRK relations and the socialist construction in both countries, and make active contributions to the peace and stability of Korean Peninsula and the region.
