Song Tao Briefs the CPV on the Spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of 19th CPC Central Committee

Beijing, November 24th—Appointed by the CPC Central Committee, Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), briefed the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) on the spirit of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee. Le Hoai Trung, head of the Commission for External Relations of the CPV Central Committee, and others were present.

Song first conveyed General Secretary Xi Jinping’s warm greetings to General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. Song said, the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and the Resolution on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century considered and adopted at the session carry great significance. The session stressed that the establishment of Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is of decisive significance for advancing the cause of the Party and the country in the new era and for driving forward the historic process of national rejuvenation. Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is the Marxism of contemporary China and of the 21st century, it embodies the best of the Chinese culture and ethos in our times and represents a new breakthrough in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context. Historical achievements and transformation happened in the new era were summarized in the resolution from 13 aspects such as upholding the Party’s overall leadership, full and rigorous self-governance and reform and opening up. Five aspects of the historical significance and ten aspects of historical experience of the Party’s endeavors over the past century were also comprehensively summarized in the resolution, inspiring all the party members to continue the success.

Song said, since the beginning of this year, General Secretary Xi Jinping has had two phone conversations with General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. They exchanged views in an in-depth manner on China-Vietnam relations and reached a series of importance consensus, charting the course for China-Vietnam relations and the relations between our two Parties in the new era. Facing the changes unseen in a century, the CPC is willing to work with the CPV to carry forward the traditional friendship, strengthen experience exchanges in party building and state governance, enhance governance capability, deepen solidarity and cooperation, further promote development of the socialist causes of the two countries under the strategic guidance of the top leaders of the two Parties, so as to better benefit the two countries and two peoples, and contribute to the development, prosperity, peace and stability in the region and the world.

Le Hoai Trung conveyed the best wishes of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to General Secretary Xi Jinping, warmly congratulated on the successful convening of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, and thanked the Chinese side for the briefing. He spoke highly of China’s major achievements made under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core since the 18th CPC National Congress, and believed that these achievements are worth learning for Vietnam and other socialist countries. He is confident that under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, China will score greater development achievements on the new journey to build a modern socialist country in all respects, and make even greater contributions to regional peace, stability and prosperity. Le Hoai Trung introduced the fourth plenary session 13th Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC) held not long ago. He stressed that Vietnam highly values Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, and always sees it as a diplomatic priority. The Vietnamese side is willing to work with the CPC to well implement the consensus of the top leaders of the two Parties, enhance political mutual trust, strengthen intra-party exchanges, deepen cooperation in various areas such as trade, economy, anti-epidemic, people-to-people and cultural engagement and cooperation at local level, push Vietnam-China relations for continuous, sound and stable development and jointly boost regional peace and stability.
