Assistant-minister Li Mingxiang Attends Opening Ceremony of Webinar for Media, Think Tanks and Non-governmental Organizations of African Countries

Beijing, November 25th—Li Mingxiang, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), attended here today the opening ceremony of the webinar for media, think tanks and non-governmental organizations of African countries and delivered a keynote speech. David Masondo, Member of the National Executive Committee of the African National Congress, Principal of OR Tambo School of Leadership and Deputy Minister of Finance of South Africa, and Simbarashe Mumbengegui, Member of the Politburo of the Zimbabwe African National Union-Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) Central Committee and Secretary for External Relations of the ZANU-PF Politburo attended and addressed the event. Nearly 30 representatives of media, think tanks and non-governmental organizations from six African countries were present.

Li mainly briefed the spirit of the sixth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee, emphasizing the establishment of Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era carries decisive significance of promoting the causes of the country and nation and advancing the historical process of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. He called on Chinese and African media think tanks and non-governmental organizations to serve as a bridge for public opinion communication between the Chinese and African people, uphold and promote the common values of mankind, and join hands to address global risks and challenges, in a bid to contribute their wisdom and strength to promote the building of a closer China-Africa community with a shared future.

In their speeches, both Masondo and Mumbengegui highly appreciated the important results and historic significance of the sixth plenary session of the 19th Central Committee of the CPC. They said, the major achievements and historical experiences of the CPC in its century-long struggle have provided important reference for African countries to explore their own development paths. They are willing to actively play the roles of media outlets, think tanks and non-governmental organizations, carry forward the friendship between China and Africa, offer ideas and recommendations to China-Africa practical cooperation in various fields, and promote China-Africa comprehensive strategic partnership to a new high.
