Beijing, November 25th--Appointed by the CPC Central Committee, Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), briefed the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) on the spirit of the sixth plenary session of 19th CPC Central Committee via video link. Nearly 50 cadres from the LPRP and the Lao government, including Bounthong Chitmany, Member of the Politburo of the LPRP Central Committee, Executive Member of the Secretariat of the LPRP Central Committee and Vice President of the Laos; Khamphanh Pheuyavong, Member of the Secretariat of the LPRP Central Committee and Head of the Propaganda and Training Commission of the LPRP Central Committee; and Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Head of the LPRP Central Committee's commission for external relations, attended the event.

Song said, the session, which was held at a critical juncture in history, carries great historical significance. The Resolution on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century adopted at the session stressed the decisive significance of establishing Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defined the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The resolution comprehensively summarized the major achievements and historical experience of the CPC over the past 100 years, mainly reviewed the original ideas, transformative practices, new breakthroughs and landmark accomplishments since the 18th CPC National Congress. It is a programmatic document of Marxism, which embodies the high political consciousness of the CPC to attach importance to historical laws, and embodies the confidence and responsibility of the CPC to keep in mind its founding mission and to keep up the momentum. It will have great and far-reaching significance for upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

Song said that General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary Thongloun Sisoulith have made important calls and exchanged letters since the beginning of this year, injecting strong impetus into the development of China-Laos relations and the building of a community with a shared future in the new era. Under the strategic guidance of the top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, the exchanges and cooperation between the two Parties have enjoyed in-depth and solid development, and the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future has shown its vitality. This year marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos. The CPC is willing to work with the LPRP to follow the important consensus of the top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries to intensify high-level exchanges, promote traditional friendship, strengthen exchanges of experience in party governance and state administration, and jointly improve governance capabilities, so as to better lead respective countries to achieve development and prosperity, and make unremitting efforts for the development of the socialist cause of the two countries and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

Bounthong, on behalf of the LPRP Committee, warmly congratulated the successful convening of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, thanked China for briefing on the spirit of the session. Speaking highly of the great achievements and valuable experience of the CPC over the past century, especially the experience since the socialism with Chinese characteristics entered the new era, he firmly believed that the CPC and the Chinese people will surely achieve new and greater achievements under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core. The LPRP attaches great importance to the development of friendly relations with the CPC, and is willing to learn the CPC’s successful experience over the past century, and work with the CPC to implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and two countries, strengthen intra-party exchanges, promote the implementation of the action plan to build the Laos-China community with a shared future, and deepen cooperation in party building, poverty alleviation, COVID-19 control and the Belt and Road, to promoted the Laos-China comprehensive strategic partnership for new development.
