Beijing, December 1st—On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the United Russia Party organized the Global Challenges of the XXI century: Interparty Dimension conference. Song Tao, General Secretary Xi Jinping's Special Representative and Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended the conference and read out a congratulatory letter from General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to the United Russia Party. Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a congratulatory letter to the conference. Dmitry Medvedev, Chairman of the United Russia Party and Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation attended the conference and delivered a speech. Political heavyweights from nearly 30 countries and international organizations attended the conference.

Song said, this year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the relations between the CPC and the United Russia Party, and the congratulatory letter from General Secretary Xi Jinping reflects the great importance General Secretary Xi Jinping attached to the development of the relations between the two Parties and the two countries in the new era. In the past 20 years, the pattern of all-round exchanges between the ruling parties of China and Russia has matured day by day, the multi-level exchange mechanism has been improved, the strategic cooperation partnership has become more solid, and the relationship between the two Parties has played an important role in promoting the continuous high-level development of China-Russia relations. The CPC is ready to work with the United Russia Party to thoroughly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and promote the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era for new progress.

Song comprehensively introduced the great historical significance and main contents of the Resolution of the CPC Central Committee on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century adopted at the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, stressing that establishing Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the CPC as a whole and defining the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era is of decisive significance to the development of the CPC and China in the new era and to advancing the historical process of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. Song also briefed the important remarks of General Secretary Xi Jinping on whole-process people’s democracy, saying that democracy is the right of all peoples, not the exclusive right of a few countries. China firmly opposes to some countries, which made the moves of drawing lines according to ideology and interfered in the internal affairs of other countries in the name of democracy, and built small blocs to create division and confrontation.

Song said, the CPC insists on keeping the well-being of the world in mind. The CPC strives for not only the happiness of the Chinese people and the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, but also the progress of mankind and seeks a world of universal harmony for all peoples. At present, the world faces combined impacts of changes and a pandemic both unseen in a century and various global challenges. The CPC is willing to work with various political parties to strengthen the political guidance for the international community, promote coordination and cooperation among countries, and work together for an open, inclusive, clean and beautiful world that enjoys lasting peace, universal security and common prosperity, and promote the building of a community with a shared future.

Aleksandar Vucic, Chairman the Serbian Progressive Party and Serbian President, Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of Laos, Luvsannamsrai Oyun-Erdene, Prime Minister of Mongolia and Chairman of the Mongolian People's Party and others delivered speeches online. In their speeches, the political heavyweights said that inter-party relations are an important part of relationship among nations, and that all political parties should strengthen exchanges and cooperation, join hands to address global challenges such as the Covid-19 pandemic and climate change, practice true multilateralism, oppose interference in the internal affairs of other countries in the name of democracy and the imposition of one country's political model on others, safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core, and jointly build a fair, stable and safe world.
