Chen Zhou Holds a Video Call with Shankar Pokharel, New General Secretary of the CPN (UML)

Beijing, December 13th—Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, held here today on the afternoon a video call with Shankar Pokharel, new General Secretary of the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)).

Congratulating the CPN (UML) on the successful convening of the 10th National Congress as well as Pokharel’s assumption of the new post, Chen said that the two Parties are currently embarking on a new journey towards new goals. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the Nepalese side, strengthen experience exchanges on party governance and state administration, promote practical cooperation, support each other in marching toward a bright future, and make new contributions to promoting the healthy and stable development of China-Nepal relations and the cause of human progress.

Pokharel thanked the Chinese side for congratulating the CPN (UML) on convening the 10th National Congress and briefed the Chinese side on the 10th National Congress in detail. He said that the Nepalese side admires the CPC's development and governance achievements, and looks forward to learning from China's successful experience in order to achieve better and faster development. The Nepalese side adheres to the One-China principle, opposes any anti-China alliance and actions that undermine Nepal-China relations and China's interests in Nepal, and is willing to support each other with the Chinese side to follow respective democratic development paths.
