Beijing, December 23rd-Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), held a video call with Prawit Wongsuwon, Leader of the Palang Pracharat Party (PPRP), Deputy Prime Minister and President of the National Olympic Committee of Thailand.

Song said, China and Thailand are close and friendly neighbors. Since the outbreak of the COVID-19, China and Thailand, under the joint leadership of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, have worked together in fighting the epidemic and coping with the once-in-a-century changes, which has interpreted the profound friendship between China and Thailand being as close as one family with practical actions. The ruling parties of the two countries have maintained close exchanges and played an active role in promoting China-Thailand relations and cooperation between China and Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Under the new situation, the CPC is willing to work with the PPRP to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, deepen the exchange of experience in state governance and administration, and poverty alleviation, promote the integration of development strategies, and push practical cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and through the political parties’ consultation to better benefit the two countries and their peoples. The two sides should take Thailand’s hosting of the 2022 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting as an opportunity to strengthen coordination and cooperation in international and regional affairs, promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, and continue to inject momentum into the development and prosperity of the Asia-Pacific region.

Song emphatically introduced the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, as well as the major historic significance of the Resolution on the Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party over the Past Century considered and adopted by the CPC Central Committee at the session. He said, the resolution comprehensively summarized the historical achievements and historical changes that have taken place in the cause of the CPC and the country under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, especially since the 18th CPC National Congress. He stressed, establishing Comrade Xi Jinping's core position on the CPC Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defining the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era are of decisive significance for advancing the cause of the Party and the country in the new era and for national rejuvenation. It reflects the CPC’s high political awareness of attaching great importance to and fully applying the historical laws. Song also noted, the CPC has embarked on a path of socialism with Chinese characteristics based on its own national conditions. There is not a development model or a democratic system that fits all. China and Thailand should support the people of all countries to independently choose development paths and democratic practices, and resolutely oppose interfering in the internal affairs of other countries in the name of democracy and human rights.

Song also said, China is grateful to the international community, including Thailand, and people from all walks of life for supporting the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in various ways, and is willing to promote the vigorous development of the international Olympics cause, and to play an important and active role in enhancing unity and deepening friendship among the international community.

Warmly congratulating the successful convening of the sixth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, Prawit highly admired China’s world-renowned development achievements under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core. He thanked China for providing valuable support to Thailand in fighting the COVID-19, expressing Thailand's willingness to actively respond to the Global Development Initiative put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping. Prawit believed that the initiative is highly consistent with the theme of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting proposed by Thailand. Thailand appreciates China's active role in maintaining international and regional peace and stability. The PPRP attaches great importance to maintaining strategic communication and strengthening the exchange of experience in party governance and state administration with the CPC. The PPRP is willing to continue to deepen cooperation between the two sides in anti-epidemic, economy, trade, investment, and vocational education, and jointly uphold multilateralism and promote the stable development of the region and the world. He also believed that the Beijing Winter Olympics will make positive contributions to the peace and progress of mankind and the friendship among all peoples.
