Chen Zhou Attends the Belt and Road Political Parties Forum for China and Southeast Asian and South Asian Countries

Beijing, January 6th--Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended and addressed here today the Belt and Road political parties forum for China and Southeast Asian and South Asian countries via videolink. Experts from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and representatives of political parties from ten Southeast Asian and South Asian countries were present.

Chen mainly briefed on the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the third symposium on the development of the Belt and Road Initiative, and said, the CPC is willing to work with political parties in the region, aim at high-standard, sustainable and people-centered development, actively promote in-depth integration of the Belt and Road Initiative with the development strategies of the region and countries in the region, and continuously increase the influences of regional cooperation mechanisms such as the RCEP, jointly promote multilateralism, and better facilitate robust recovery of the regional economy and the process of regional integration.

Representatives present had in-depth exchanges on accelerating economic recovery amid the pandemic, adhering to opening up and win-win cooperation, and actively giving play to the role of political parties. They spoke highly of the important role the Belt and Road cooperation played in the post-pandemic economic recovery and people's livelihood improvement in various countries. They also expressed the willingness to work with the CPC to strengthen exchanges and cooperation, make good use of exchange platforms for political parties, and contribute wisdom and strength of political parties to the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.
