Beijing, February 5th—Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Ali Ahmadov, Deputy Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party of Azerbaijan in Beijing.      

Song welcomed Ahmadov to attend the opening ceremony of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games in China and thanked Azerbaijan for its strong support for China’s hosting of the Winter Olympics. Song said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance and personal promotion of President Xi Jinping and President Ilham Aliyev, China-Azerbaijan relations have enjoyed healthy and steady development, and China and Azerbaijan have firmly followed the development path chosen independently by the two countries. Faced with major changes and the pandemic both unseen in a century, the world finds itself in a new period of turbulence and transformation. Taking the joint celebration of the 30th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations as an opportunity, China is ready to work with Azerbaijan to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, carry forward the traditional friendship, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and enhance mutual support, so as to bring China-Azerbaijan friendly cooperative relations to a new level and better benefit the two countries and peoples.

Song noted that under the kind care and strong support of the top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, the relations between the CPC and the New Azerbaijan Party have enjoyed constant development. The CPC stands ready to work with the New Azerbaijan Party to actively implement the strategic consensus reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, strengthen the exchange of experience in state governance between the two sides, and reinforce the role of political leadership in inter-party exchanges. The CPC stands ready to work with the New Azerbaijan Party to create more opportunities for local authorities and enterprises of the two countries to participate in the Belt and Road cooperation, and open up more channels for bilateral cooperation in cultural and people-to-people exchanges, sports, tourism and other fields, so as to elevate China-Azerbaijan cooperation to a higher level. Song also briefed the spirit of the 6th Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee.

Ahmadov warmly congratulated on the successful opening of the Beijing Winter Olympics, saying that hosting the Olympics twice in Beijing not only shows that China is an internationally recognized leading sporting nation, but also fully demonstrates China’s outstanding capability in organizing major international events. Azerbaijan is sincerely happy for China’s achievements in various aspects including economy, society, and sports. Under the joint guidance of President Ilham Aliyev and President Xi Jinping, the political relations between Azerbaijan and China have been running at a high level. The two Parties maintain friendly exchanges, which have a positive impact on the development of bilateral relations. Against the backdrop of the pandemic, solidarity and mutual support among all countries are needed more than ever. Azerbaijan is willing to take the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Azerbaijan-China diplomatic ties as an opportunity to constantly deepen the relations between the two Parties and push the relations between the two countries for continuous development. Chinese enterprises are welcome to take part in the economic development in Azerbaijan, as Azerbaijan is ready to strengthen cooperation with China in cultural and people-to-people exchanges, sports, and youth. Ahmadov wished China greater success on the new journey under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core.
