Beijing, April 27th—The launching ceremony of a series of events themed on “viewing today’s China and seeking global development” and the inauguration of the working committee of international volunteer service of China Volunteer Service Federation were held here today on the afternoon in Beijing, with a parallel session held in Nanjing. Under the instructions of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, the events were held by China NGO Network for International Exchanges, the Chinese Association for International Understanding and China Volunteer Service Federation. Chen Zhou, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Sun Zhijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the executive deputy president of China Association of Voluntary Service, Han Liming, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee attended and addressed the events offline. Chandra Prakash, former Vice Prime Minister of Nepal, Carlos Larrea, Ambassador of Ecuador to China, Archil Kalandia, Georgian Ambassador of Georgia to China, Muhammad Asif Noor, Director of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies of Pakistan delivered video remarks. Over 200 Chinese and foreign representatives from various sectors were present.

The representatives spoke highly of China’s building of a moderately prosperous society in all respects on schedule, which is an accomplishment of achieving the first centenary goal, and highly praised the Global Development Initiative proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping. They voiced strong support for the implementation of the Global Development Initiative across the world, and called on the international community to work together and stay united, work faster to realize the United Nations' (UN) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and push for more robust, greener and healthier global development. They warmly congratulated the Chinese side on the inauguration of the working committee of international volunteer service of China Volunteer Service Federation, and hoped China’s volunteer service to make greater contributions to enhancing the well-being of mankind and facilitating progress of the world’s civilizations.

The themed events “viewing today’s China and seeking global development” are large-scale events co-organized by many Chinese social organizations such as China NGO Network for International Exchanges, the Chinese Association for International Understanding and China Volunteer Service Federation and their NGO partners of many countries. The events include over ten bilateral and multilateral activities on sharing development experience, planning for poverty alleviation cooperation, advancing projects related to people’s livelihood, strengthening mutual learning among civilizations, and promoting youth exchange. The events started in this April and will end in September 2022. The working committee of international volunteer service was jointly launched by China Volunteer Service Federation and China NGO Network for International Exchanges, and will be committed to building cooperation and exchange platforms for international volunteer service and help China’s volunteer service go global.
