Beijing, May 18th—The CPC and 14 major political parties and organizations of Egypt held here today the second meeting of the communication mechanism of the joint building of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) of political parties of China and Egypt. Zhu Rui, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and leaders of Nation's Future Party, Republican People's Party, Wafd Party, and Communist Party of Egypt attended and addressed the function.

Zhu said, China and Egypt share a profound traditional friendship. In recent years, under the joint guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi, both countries have enjoyed more solid political mutual trust, and fruitful results in practical cooperation and in our joint fight against the COVID-19. The CPC is willing to, together with all Parties of Egypt, deepen concept exchange, strengthen policy communication, and further explore and release the huge potential of this communication mechanism in such aspects as building up consensus, charting the course and promoting cooperation, so as to contribute wisdom and strength to pushing the development of China-Egypt relations and the high-quality development of the joint building of the BRI of the two countries. Zhu also introduced the latest results of the Belt and Road cooperation, the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative.

Leaders of the Parties of Egypt spoke highly of the great development achievements the Chinese people made under the leadership of the CPC, applauded the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative put forward by President Xi Jinping, and spoke positively of the progress of the construction of the BRI and the Belt and Road cooperation between Egypt and China. They said, the BRI plays an important role in promoting global economic recovery, driving economic growth of all countries, and uniting people of all countries to jointly cope with risks and challenges. They said, the Parties of Egypt are willing to give play to their influences in areas including parliament, government and enterprise, and work with the CPC to take this meeting as an opportunity to push for in-depth integration of Egypt Vision 2030 and the BRI, propel practical cooperation between the two countries for more results, and better benefit the two countries and two peoples.

An online event for entrepreneurs of China and Egypt, themed on “giving play to the role of political parties and advancing local cooperation”, was also held under this mechanism. Peng Yong, Head of the Economic Liaison Center, Luan Jianzhang, Director of Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Tianjin Municipality, Mrs. NahlaImad, Manager of EGYPT-TEDA SEZONE Development Co. S.A.E., and others attended the meeting and delivered speeches. Executives of enterprises in Tianjin, including China-Africa TEDA Investment Co., Ltd., made in-depth exchanges with representatives from over ten Egyptian enterprises. The Egyptian side spoke highly of the Chinese side’s proposal of the event, and expressed the willingness to, together with Chinese enterprises, including those in Tianjin, to strengthen cooperation in infrastructure, new energy, e-commerce and other areas, and make use of China’s advantages in funds, technology, and other fields to promote practical cooperation between our two countries under the framework of Egypt-China joint construction of the BRI, particularly cooperation at local level, to help Egypt realize sustainable development on all fronts.
