Zhu Rui Holds a Video Call with Gholamreza Asdalahi, Director of the Chairman's Office of the Expediency Discernment Council of Iran

Beijing, July 5th—Zhu Rui, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), held here today a video call with Gholamreza Asdalahi, Director of the Chairman's Office of the Expediency Discernment Council (EDC) of Iran.

Zhu said that this year marks the beginning of the second 50-year development of China-Iran relations, and the 10th year of the establishment of the relationship between the IDCPC and the EDC. The IDCPC is willing to work with the EDC to implement the strategic consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Ebrahim Raisi, strengthen high-level interaction, deepen exchanges of ideas, enhance political mutual trust, and intensify strategic communication, so as to promote the continuous consolidation and development of China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership. Zhu also briefed the Iranian side on the relevant situation of the 20th CPC National Congress and the spirit of President Xi Jinping's important speeches at the BRICS-related events.

Asdalahi warmly congratulated the CPC on its 101st anniversary, and wished the 20th CPC National Congress a complete success, which will lead China to achieve greater development and progress. He stressed that Iran has always firmly supported the Chinese side on issues related to Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Taiwan, and supported the Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping. Asdalahi conveyed the congratulations from the leaders of the EDC to Minister Liu Jianchao on his assumption of office and the invitation to visit Iran, and expressed the willingness to deepen exchanges and cooperation with the IDCPC on state governance and administration, poverty eradication, anti-corruption supervision, and global governance, and make new and greater contributions to promoting the development of relations between the two countries and strengthening the coordination on international affairs.

The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East and NATO's eastward expansion.
