Liu Jianchao meets with Narayan Khadka, Leader of Nepali Congress Party and Foreign Minister of Nepal

Kathmandu, July 10th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today on the afternoon with Narayan Khadka, Leader of Nepali Congress Party and Foreign Minister of Nepal.

Liu said, China and Nepal are neighbors with a traditional friendship. The Chinese side appreciates that successive governments of Nepal and the Nepali Congress Party have always adhered to the one-China principle and have not allowed any force to use Nepal's territory for anti-China activities. The Chinese side firmly supports Nepal in safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and supports all parties in Nepal in choosing a development path that suits Nepal's conditions based on fundamental interests of Nepal and the Nepali people. China's friendly policy toward Nepal is open to all political parties and all the Nepali people, and the Nepali Congress Party has made important contributions to the development of bilateral relations in history. The CPC is willing to work closely with major political parties in Nepal, including the Nepali Congress Party, to intensify coordination and actively implement the important consensus reached by General Secretary Xi Jinping and the Nepali side during Xi Jinping's visit to Nepal in 2019 and push China-Nepal relations for constant development.

Khadka said, Nepal and China are friendly neighbors of mutual respect and development partners with win-win cooperation. The Nepali side thanked the CPC, the Chinese government and the Chinese people for their long-term support to development and stability of Nepal, to Nepal's efforts to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and to boosting Nepal's post-epidemic economic recovery and livelihood improvement for the Nepali people. The Nepali side firmly adheres to the one-China principle and will not allow any force to use Nepal's territory for anti-China activities. The Nepali Congress Party admires the achievements of the CPC’s governance and the CPC’s philosophy of governance. The Nepali Congress Party is willing to enhance mutual learning and experience exchanges between the two Parties in party building and state governance, so as to better benefit the two peoples.

After the meeting, Khadka, on behalf of the Nepali Congress Party, hosted a banquet to welcome Liu Jianchao's visit to Nepal with his delegation. Dhanraj Gurung, Vice President of the Nepali Congress Party, Gagan Thapa, General Secretary of the Nepali Congress Party and other high-level leaders of the Nepali Congress Party as well as Dinesh Bhattarai, Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister of Nepal attended the event. The two sides had an extensive and in-depth exchange of views. Leaders of the Nepali Congress Party emphasized their firm commitments to Nepal's friendly policy toward China and hoped that the two sides will further strengthen the Belt and Road cooperation and enhance friendly exchanges between the two peoples.
