Singapore, July 15th—Heng Swee Keat, First Assistant Secretary-General of the People's Action Party (PAP), Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies of Singapore, met here today on the morning with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Heng Swee Keat said that Singapore and China have close relations, and bilateral relations have continued to develop with remarkable achievements. China has made great achievements in economy, society and science and technology. Attaching great importance to developing Singapore-China relations, the Singaporean side is willing to align development strategies with the Chinese side, speed up the connectivity construction, and focus on deepening practical cooperation as well as communication and coordination on international and regional issues in the future, so as to better benefit the peoples in the two countries and the region. Both the PAP and the CPC have taken a long-term perspective in their long-term governance in respective countries. Having continuous policies, the two Parties have accumulated rich experience. The Singaporean side is willing to further strengthen the inter-party exchanges between the two sides, exchange experience in state governance and administration, and inspire and learn from each other, so as to promote the healthy and stable development of Singapore-China relations.

Liu noted that China-Singapore relations have enjoyed a solid foundation and maintained sound development for more than 40 years. People will not forget the achievements of the older generation of leaders in pioneering China-Singapore relations and promoting mutually beneficial cooperation. In recent years, the leaders of the two sides have maintained close communication and reached a series of important consensus on the development of bilateral relations. The progress of major cooperation projects between the two sides is satisfactory. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Singaporean side to inherit the good tradition of bilateral relations, take the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries as a guide, make good use of various exchange and cooperation mechanisms between China and Singapore, deepen strategic communication, expand practical cooperation and intensify coordination in multilateral occasions in the context of profound changes in the world and regional landscape, so as to lift China-Singapore relations to new highs. The CPC is willing to strengthen institutionalized exchanges and high-level interactions with the PAP, conduct mutual learning in party building and the state administration, work together to address risks and challenges, and play a more important role in the development of bilateral relations.
