Zhu Rui Holds a Video Call with Adel Abdul Mahdi, Iraq's Former Prime Minister

Beijing, July 20th—Zhu Rui, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, held a video call here today with Adel Abdul Mahdi, Iraq's former Prime Minister.

Zhu spoke positively of China-Iraq relations, and appreciated Adel Abdul Mahdi’s important contributions to promoting the development of China-Iraq relations on different posts. Zhu said, the Chinese side is willing to further enhance exchanges in state governance and administration and communication on international affairs with the Iraqi side, to push China-Iraq strategic partnership for greater development. Zhu briefed on China’s whole-process people’s democracy, the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative.

Adel Abdul Mahdi wished the 20th CPC National Congress a complete success, and highly praised the huge development achievements the Chinese people made under the leadership of the CPC, particularly under the leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping. He said, the governing and developing concepts and experience of the CPC provide useful reference for all countries in the world, particularly countries of the third world. He stressed, Iraq attaches importance to developing friendly relations with China, views our Belt and Road cooperation and oil-for-reconstruction agreement from a strategic perspective, and hopes strengthen practical cooperation between the two countries in such areas as transportation, telecommunication, harbor and irrigation.

Zhu also gave Adel Abdul Mahdi the English edition of the fourth volume of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China".
