Qian Hongshan Meets with José Augusto Duarte, Portuguese Ambassador to China

Beijing, August 3rd—Qian Hongshan, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today on the morning with José Augusto Duarte, outgoing Portuguese Ambassador to China at request.

Speaking positively of José Augusto Duarte’s contributions to promoting China-Portugal relations during his tenure, Qian said exchanges between political parties of the two countries provide an important boost for the development of relations between our two countries, and expressed China’s willingness to continue to strengthen exchanges at all levels between both sides through inter-party channels. Qian introduced relevant situation of the 20th CPC National Congress to be held in the second half of the year, gave him the fourth volume of "Xi Jinping: The Governance of China", and expected José Augusto Duarte to continue to contribute to the friendly cooperation between China and Portugal.

José Augusto Duarte thanked the Chinese side for the active support and help during his tenure in China, and fully recognized the friendly cooperation in various areas between both countries in recent years. He expressed the willingness to continue to care and support the development of Portugal-China relations in the future, and believed China will definitely make new and greater success under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee.
