Shen Beili Attends 9th China-Germany Business Conference of the Belt and Road Initiative

Beijing, September 6th—The 9th China-Germany Business Conference of the Belt and Road Initiative was held here today both online and offline. Shen Beili, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Sigmar Gabriel, former Vice Chancellor of Germany, Wu Ken, Chinese Ambassador to Germany, Zhang Haibo, Member and Secretary-General of the Standing Committee of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and others attended and addressed the conference.

Shen said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations 50 years ago, China and Germany have travelled an extraordinary journey together. The two countries established an all-round strategic partnership, and continuously deepened practical cooperation in various areas. Shen expected that the business circles of both countries will make good use of the platform of China-Germany Business Conference of the Belt and Road Initiative, enhance mutual understanding, push practical cooperation, inject positive energy into the development of China-Germany relations, and actively contribute to the stable development of China-European Union relations.

Gabriel said, China-Germany relations over the past 50 years have proved that cooperation and dialogue conform to the common interests of both sides. The German side is willing to actively carry out exchanges with the Chinese side in people-to-people and cultural engagement, science, technology, healthcare, education and other areas to push forward bilateral relations.

Wu said, standing on the new starting point, China and Germany should cultivate more new growth drivers of cooperation, jointly cope with global challenges, bring more benefits to the two peoples, and inject more stability and certainty into global development.

Zhang said, Shandong Province is ready to work with the German side to carry out extensive cooperation in such fields as manufacturing development, coordinated innovation, green development, construction of industrial parks, and non-governmental exchanges to realize mutual benefits and win-win results.

The 9th China-Germany Business Conference of the Belt and Road Initiative was co-organized by China Economic Cooperation Center and Rudolf Scharping Strategy Consulting Communication AG (RSBK AG). Nearly 100 representatives, including those from the political and business circles from Shandong, Henan, Yunnan, Guizhou provinces, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Saarland, Zeppelin University and the BMW Group were present. They reviewed the development of bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations 50 years ago, and exchanged views on cooperation in such areas as education development, talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation, medical treatment, healthcare, and green economy. Over 900 representatives from the political and business circles of both countries will attend the three-day conference.
