Chen said that in the report to the 20th CPC National Congress, General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that building a human community with a shared future is the way forward for all the world's peoples. Only when all countries pursue the cause of common good, live in harmony, and engage in cooperation for mutual benefit will there be sustained prosperity and guaranteed security. China will unswervingly promote reform and opening-up. Acting on the principles of amity, sincerity, mutual benefit, and inclusiveness and the policy of forging friendships and partnerships with its neighbors, China strives to enhance friendly ties, mutual trust, and converging interests with its neighboring countries, so as to push the building of a community with a shared future with our neighbors for solid and substantive progress.

The forum was co-organized by the Silk Road Think Tank Association and Yunnan Academy of Social Sciences, with the theme of Deepening Practical Cooperation and Pursuing Innovative Development. Gao Peiyong, Vice President and Member of the Party Committee of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zeng Yan, Member of CPC Yunnan Provincial Standing Committee and Minister of the Publicity Department of the Provincial Party Committee, Khanlasy Keobounphanh, Vice President of Lao Academy of Social and Economic Sciences, Irfan Shahzad Takalvi, Founding President of Eurasian Century Institute of Pakistan and others attended the forum.
