Briefing on the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Sixth China-Africa Young Leaders Forum Held

On November 25, the International Department of the CPC Central Committee held the Briefing on the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and the Sixth China-Africa Young Leaders Forum themed on "exploring ways to modernization: responsibilities of young political leaders" via video link. Liu Jianchao, Minister of the IDCPC, attended the briefing and delivered a key note speech. Li Mingxiang, Assistant-minister of the IDCPC, presided over the briefing. Nearly 200 people attended the event. Solly Mapaila, General Secretary of the South African Communist Party, Steeve Nzegho Dieko, General Secretary of the Gabonese Democratic Party, Veronica Maina, Secretary-General of United Democratic Alliance and others delivered speeches at the event. Chen Xiaodong, Chinese Ambassador to South Africa, Li Jinjin, Chinese Ambassador to Gabon, Zhou Pingjian, Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, Wu Peng, Director-General of the Department of African Affairs of China's Foreign Ministry, young leaders of over 60 political parties and political organizations from more than 40 African countries, and some foreign students in China were present.

Liu introduced the great achievements and far-reaching significance of the 20th CPC National Congress, and elaborated on the Chinese characteristics, essential requirements and major principles of a uniquely Chinese path to modernization. Liu said, realizing modernization is the common aspiration of people of all countries. China's rapid development is an indisputable manifestation that there is no fixed way to modernization, and there is no one-size-fits-all standard in the world. On the new journey, the CPC will stay committed to advancing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization, work to ensure the fruits of development are of greater and more equitable benefit to the people, and provide more opportunities for all countries in the world, including African countries.

Liu said, China and African countries are developing countries and are a community with a shared future. In recent years, both sides have worked together to realize steady progress in practical cooperation in all areas. At present, the world enters a new period of unrest. Humanity and peaceful development face severe challenges. The Chinese side is willing to work with the African side to shoulder the responsibilities of the times, deepen bilateral friendship, and boost global development. The CPC will firmly support the African side in exploring their own paths to modernization that suit their national conditions, strengthen cooperation in political parties, youth, media and non-governmental cooperation, push for better implementation of the "Nine Projects" of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, jointly champion international fairness and justice, create a sound development environment for the modernization drive of China and Africa, and push the building of China-Africa community with shared future.

The participants warmly congratulated on the success of the 20th CPC National Congress, spoke highly of China's huge achievements in such areas as economic and social development and scientific progress. They particularly mentioned that China has eradicated absolute poverty, which is a huge contribution to the cause of poverty alleviation of mankind. The African side said, the CPC integrated the basic tenets of Marxism with China's specific realities, and explored socialism with Chinese characteristics, which suits China's conditions and provides important reference for the African side. A uniquely Chinese path to modernization expands the channels for African countries to achieve modernization. Calling China a sincere friend and trustworthy partner, the African side thanked the Chinese sides' for the precious support in aspects such as infrastructure construction, and expressed the readiness to, through inter-party channels and China-Africa Young Leaders Forum and other channels, enhance communication and exchanges, advance Africa-China friendly relations, safeguard the UN-centered international system and promote the common interests of developing countries.
