Liu Jianchao Meets with Agung Laksono, Chairman of the Expert Council of the Golkar Party and Former Speaker of the People's Representative Council of Indonesia

Beijing, March 9th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Agung Laksono, Chairman of the Expert Council of the Golkar Party and former Speaker of the People's Representative Council of Indonesia.

Liu said, under the guidance of General Secretary Xi Jinping and President Joko Widodo, China-Indonesia relations have entered a new stage of jointly building a community with a shared future, showing sustained, rapid and robust momentum of development. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Indonesian side to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, consolidate and deepen the new pattern of the “four-wheel drive” cooperation between China and Indonesia, namely political, economic, people-to-people and maritime cooperation, as well as promote key cooperation projects between the two countries including Jakarta-Bandung High Speed Railway, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor and China-Indonesia "Two Countries, Twin Parks", in a bid to better benefit the people of the two countries, and create a model of mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win results between major developing countries.

Liu said, at present, China is holding the two sessions of National People's Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), fully implementing the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress, making arrangements for this year's key tasks, and leading the Chinese people on a new journey to fully build a modern socialist China. China's economy has recovered quickly from the impact of the epidemic and unleashed vitality, which will provide more opportunities for all countries around the world, including Indonesia. Calling inter-party cooperation an important part of relations between two countries, Liu said the CPC is willing to strengthen strategic communication with major Indonesian political parties such as the Golkar Party, deepen experience exchange of party building and state governance, and facilitate cooperation in areas such as the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative through inter-party channels, to promote China-Indonesia relations for greater development and jointly maintain the hard-won peace and stability in the region.

Agung thanked Liu for the meeting, saying that he is very pleased to visit China after a positive shift of the COVID-19 situation in China. Seeing with his own eyes the rapid economic and social development and new achievements of China, he believed that under the guidance of the spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and the ongoing two sessions, China will achieve more attainments, further improve the well-being of the Chinese people, and brings new development opportunities to Indonesia. President Joko Widodo and Airlangga Hartarto, General Chairman of the Golkar Party, attach great importance to the relationship between the two countries and the exchanges between political parties. They hope to strengthen cooperation with China in various fields such as economy, trade, agriculture, fishery, education, and humanities, and jointly push the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind for new progress. The Golkar Party is willing to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the CPC and make new contributions to the further development of relations between the two countries.
