Guangzhou, March 25th—Qian Hongshan, Vice-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended here today the opening ceremony of the Asia Youth Leaders Forum and met with Sommad Pholsena, Vice Chairman of National Assembly of Laos and President of Lao Committee for Peace and Solidarity.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, Qian noted that not long ago, China's "two sessions" successfully concluded. At the third plenary meeting of the first session of the 14th National People's Congress, Comrade Xi Jinping was elected Chinese President and Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China by a unanimous vote. This fully reflects the common aspirations of the CPC, the military, and people of all ethnic groups of China, and demonstrates the high degree of unity among the will of the CPC, the will of the people, and the will of the state. At the CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties High-level Meeting held on March 15th, General Secretary Xi Jinping put forward the Global Civilization Initiative for the first time, which is China's another significant public product for the international community after the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative. It injects strong positive energy into the promotion of human modernization and the building of a community with a shared future for mankind. Qian hoped that Asian youth will strengthen unity and cooperation, vigorously promote the common values of humanity featuring peace, development, fairness, justice, democracy, and freedom, and work together to build an Asia featuring peace, safety, common prosperity, inclusiveness, mutual learning, opening-up and innovation, contributing their youthful energy to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.

During his meeting with Sommad Pholsena, Qian said that in November last year, General Secretary Xi Jinping held talks with Thongloun Sisoulith, General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee, who was on a visit to China, charting the course for the development of China-Laos relations and the building of the China-Laos community with a shared future in the new era. We should jointly implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and countries, further strengthen political mutual trust and experience exchange in state governance and administration, and continuously advance China-Laos friendly cause. Sommad Pholsena highly spoke of the major initiatives put forward by General Secretary Xi Jinping, such as the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, and thanked the Chinese side for its valuable support and assistance to Laos' economic and social development over the years. Sommad Pholsena expressed his willingness to strengthen experience exchange in state governance and administration with the Chinese side and jointly promote the building of the Laos-China community with a shared future.

The forum was co-hosted by the China Foundation for Peace and Development, the China Public Diplomacy Association, the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government, and the Asian Youth Leadership Association. Gao Yunlong, Vice Chairman of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Chairman of the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, and Chairman of the China Foundation for Peace and Development; Wang Ruijun, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Committee and Head of the Guangdong Department of United Front Work; Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim; Sommad Pholsena, Vice Chairman of National Assembly of Laos; former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama; former Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva; and other Chinese and foreign guests attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. More than 400 participants, including relevant leaders from Guangzhou, foreign diplomats in China, business leaders, and youth representatives from various Asian countries, attended the event.
