Liu Jianchao Meets with Nga Kor Ming, Vice Chairman of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Minister of Local Government Development of Malaysia

Beijing, April 2nd—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Nga Kor Ming, Vice Chairman of the Democratic Action Party (DAP) and Minister of Local Government Development of Malaysia.

Liu said that recently, General Secretary Xi Jinping held a fruitful meeting with visiting Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, leading bilateral relations in the general direction of building a community with a shared future. The CPC is willing to work with Malaysia's major political parties, including the DAP, to actively implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, deepen mutual learning of governing experience, promote the alignment of development strategies, enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and advance cooperation in various fields such as the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, so as to better benefit the two countries and peoples.

Liu noted that this year marks the 10th anniversary of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important vision of a community with a shared future for mankind. Over the past decade, China has consistently adhered to reform and opening-up, and innovation-driven development, constantly injecting new momentum and vitality into world development. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Malaysian side in exploring a path to modernization suited to our own national conditions. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Malaysian side to uphold open regionalism and hopes that Malaysia, as an important ASEAN country, will play an active role in promoting China-ASEAN cooperation and jointly safeguard regional and global peace, stability, and development.

Nga Kor Ming said that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's successful visit to China and the important consensus he reached with President Xi Jinping on developing bilateral relations have effectively promoted the building of the Malaysia-China community with a shared future. Currently, Malaysia-China relations are at their best in history. The DAP attaches great importance to learning from the CPC's experience in party building and state governance and hopes to fully implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries, strengthening exchanges in areas such as youth official training, anti-corruption, and urban development. It is hoped that both sides will further promote cooperation in economy, trade, the Belt and Road cooperation, education, infrastructure, agriculture, and other fields through inter-party channels, enhance personnel exchanges, and promote people-to-people bonds between the people of both countries. The Malaysian side is willing to work with the Chinese side to strengthen cooperation in international organizations and push ASEAN-China relations for constant development.
