Beijing, April 21th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Mohcine Jazouli, Moroccan Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies.

Liu said that although China and Morocco are geographically far apart, the two peoples share a longstanding friendship. The account of the travels written by Moroccan traveler Ibn Battuta in the 14th century is a precious historical treasure for both countries. In 2016, President Xi Jinping and King Mohammed VI of Morocco jointly announced the establishment of a strategic partnership between China and Morocco, laying a solid foundation for bilateral relations in the new era.  The Chinese side is willing to take the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as an opportunity and work with the Moroccan side to implement the strategic consensus reached by the two heads of state, consolidate political mutual trust, and deepen cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, in an effort to achieve common development and prosperity.

Liu said that both China and Morocco are striving to achieve our own modernization goals. Our paths to modernization contain elements that are common to the modernization processes of all countries, but are more characterized by features that are unique to our respective contexts. The CPC is willing to deepen friendly exchanges with various circles of Morocco, including political parties and non-governmental organizations, and strengthen concept exchange and mutual learning of experience, in a bid to better advance respective modernization. China stands ready to, together with the Moroccan side, strengthen civilization exchanges and mutual learning and deepen cultural cooperation and people-to-people ties, to lay a solid foundation for the development of bilateral relations.

Jazouli said, China-Morocco relationship is built on mutual understanding and mutual respect. Upholding similar values, the two countries have maintained friendly exchanges for a long time. King Mohammed VI’s state visit to China in 2016 vigorously promoted the development of bilateral relations and cooperation in various fields. The Moroccan side is ready to establish a closer strategic partnership with China, and deepen practical cooperation in areas such as automobile manufacturing, industrial parks, and renewable energy. More Chinese enterprises are welcomed to invest in Morocco and participate in the modernization of the country, contributing to mutual benefits and win-win results.

Zhu Rui, Assistant-minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, and others attended the meeting.
