 ( 2023.06.26 )

London, June 20th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, attended a briefing here today for all sectors of the UK. About 60 representatives were present, including Zheng Zeguang, Chinese Ambassador to the UK, David Lidington, Honorary President of the Great Britain-China Centre (GBCC) and former Minister for the Cabinet Office, representatives from the UK government, parliament, political parties, local governments, and the business sector, academic circles and non-governmental sectors.

Liu said, I lead a CPC delegation to visit the UL and attend the 11th UK-China Senior Leadership Forum to conduct extensive, continuous, and in-depth dialogue with political heavyweights and all walks of life of the UK. We need to properly handle differences, deepen mutual understanding, and promote the steady and long-term development of China-UK relations. I share a common wish with all of you, which is to transcend differences, build consensus on the basis of mutual respect, strengthen cooperation, and play a positive role in promoting the healthy and stable development of China-UK relations.

Representatives of the British side said that a stable, prosperous and peaceful China is beneficial to the UK and the world. The UK and China have extensive common interests in such fields as economy, trade, investment, education, locality, and public health. Facing common challenges such as climate change and digital technology transformation, both sides should strengthen dialogue, exchanges and cooperation, properly manage and control differences, and build an open, stable, and constructive bilateral relationship.
