La Russa welcomed Liu's visit on behalf of the Italian Senate, stating that Italy and China have a long history and rich culture, and bilateral friendly exchanges enjoy a long-standing history, serving as a bridge between Eastern and Western civilizations. The development achievements China has made during the past 40 years of reform and opening-up are admirable. And the modernization of 1.4 billion people has significant global significance. The Italian side is willing to work with the Chinese side to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in culture, heritage protection, sports, tourism, and innovation, and encourage exchanges between young people to enhance mutual understanding. The Italian Senate is willing to promote exchanges between political parties and legislative institutions of both countries and play an active role in deepening friendly cooperation between Italy and China as well as the European Union (EU) and China.

Liu said, both China and Italy are ancient civilizations with a long history and rich culture, and two nations that admire each other's civilizations can certainly coexist harmoniously. China-Italy relations have long been at the forefront of China's relations with Western countries. Both sides should strengthen communication on ideas and policies, promoting the healthy and stable development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Italy, as well as between China and the EU.

Liu said, the 20th CPC National Congress proposed comprehensively advancing rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through a Chinese path to modernization. The modernization of 1.4 billion Chinese people will create a long-term, stable, and predictable enormous market, providing new opportunities for global development. China is willing to work with the international community to achieve common development, maintain peace and security, promote the progress of human civilization, and boost the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
