Liu Jianchao Meets with Yvette Sylla, Foreign Minister of Madagascar

Antananarivo, July 21—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), met here today with Yvette Sylla, Foreign Minister of Madagascar.

Liu said, since the establishment of diplomatic relations half a century ago, China- Madagascar relations have maintained healthy and stable development. Sincerity, friendship, mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual support have become the distinctive features of China-Madagascar comprehensive cooperative partnership. This year marks the start of another 50 years for diplomatic relations between China and Madagascar. The IDCPC is willing to give full play to the unique advantages of inter-party channels, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning between the ruling parties of the two countries, promote practical cooperation between the two countries, facilitate the implementation of the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and jointly push respective development and modernization processes. We are willing to strengthen international cooperation with the Madagascan side, support the Madagascan side in continuously playing a unique role in multilateral affairs, and jointly safeguard the interests of developing countries.

Liu said, at present, under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, China is promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in an all-round way through Chinese modernization. Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era is the latest achievement of adapting Marxism to the Chinese context and the needs of the times, embodies the best Chinese culture and ethos of this era, and provides new solutions to the global issues facing mankind. China's domestic and foreign policies have great continuity and stability, which will inject strong certainty and positive energy into world peace and tranquility, and will also inject stronger development momentum into mutually beneficial and win-win cooperation between China and Madagascar.

Recalling her successful visit to China not long ago, Sylla said the CPC led China to achieve great development achievements and called the profound Chinese civilization extraordinary. The Madagascan side firmly adheres to the one-China principle, attaches great importance to strengthening strategic communication between the two countries, and hopes to strengthen institutionalized exchanges with the Chinese side, learn experience in state governance and administration and excellent traditional cultural concepts from China, so as to push bilateral relations for greater development. The Madagascan side will continue to actively participate in cooperation such as the Belt and Road Initiative, and speaks highly of the important and positive role of China-proposed major global initiatives in promoting world economic growth and the evolution of the international pattern. The Madagascan side appreciates China's commitment to the principle of fairness and justice, pursuit of the non-alignment foreign policy, and China's commitment to resolutely safeguarding the interests of developing countries. It firmly supports China in playing a greater role on the international stage.

The two sides also exchanged views on issues of common concern such as climate change, food and energy security.
