Antananarivo, July 21st—Christine Razanamahasoa, President of the National Assembly of Madagascar, met here today with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Liu said, China and Madagascar have forged a deep friendship through long-term friendly exchanges. Last year marked the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Madagascar. Now standing at a new historical starting point, the Chinese side is willing to work together with the Madagascan side to jointly promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, enhance exchangesand mutual learningamong civilizations, comprehensively implement the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and elevate the comprehensive cooperative partnership between China and Madagascar to a new level.

Liu introduced China's system of the multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC, elaborating on the specific connotation and practical path of whole-process people's democracy. He said, inter-party exchanges and exchanges between legislative institutions play an important role in enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples and promoting the development of state-to-state relations. The Chinese side highly appreciates the Madagascan side's firm support on issues concerning China's core interests and will continue to support the Madagascan side in exploring a development path that suits its national conditions. The Chinese side is ready to work with the Madagascan side to jointly implement the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative, safeguard the development and security interests of both countries, and work towards building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Christine said, in recent years, the legislative institutions of Madagascar and China have maintained close exchanges, enhancing political mutual trust and promoting cooperation in various fields between the two countries. The Madagascan side appreciates the Chinese side's assistance in its economic development, poverty reduction, and the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Madagascar highly admires China's remarkable achievements in economic and social development. Whole-process people's democracy under the leadership of the CPC has brought tremendous progress to China and provided valuable inspiration and references for developing countries to explore their own political paths and democratic systems that suit their national conditions.

Christine said, the Madagascan side looks forward to strengthening high-level exchanges between legislative institutions and political parties with the Chinese side, enhancing mutual learning in state governance and administration, and promoting cooperation in the areas such as people's livelihood, healthcare, and infrastructure construction. The Madagascan side is willing to provide a favorable environment for Chinese enterprises and overseas Chinese to conduct business and live in Madagascar, so as to continuously enrich the connotation of Madagascar-China relations. The Madagascan side supports President Xi Jinping's concept of building a community with a shared future for mankind and appreciates the Chinese side's adherence to the foreign policy of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, and is willing to enhance communication with the Chinese side on international affairs.
