Over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, practical cooperation in various fields, including people-to-people and cultural exchanges and postal communications has achieved fruitful results. Mauritius has diverse cultures, harmonious multi-ethnic coexistence, and harmonious coexistence between man and nature. In March this year, President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Civilization Initiative, putting forward a series of proposals to promote inclusive coexistence, exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Mauritian side to continue to advance mutual respect and harmonious coexistence of different civilizations, make cultural exchanges a bridge to enhance the friendship between the two peoples, propel people-to-people bonds, and push new development in bilateral relations.

The fusion of cultures makes the people of Mauritius and China have a natural intimacy. The Chinese have made important contributions to the development of Mauritius. Attaching importance to carrying out exchanges between civilizations with China, Mauritius hopes that the two sides will overcome the impact of the pandemic as soon as possible and resume large-scale personnel exchanges. The Mauritian side is ready to work with the Chinese side to strengthen infrastructure connectivity building in information and communication, consolidate bilateral cooperation in people's livelihood, and help Mauritius-China friendly relations continue to reach new levels.

During the visit, Liu also visited the local Chinese chamber of commerce, had in-depth exchanges with overseas Chinese, appreciated and encouraged the positive contributions made by overseas Chinese to giving back to Mauritius' economic and social development and promoting China-Mauritius friendship.
