Paul Kagame, RPF Chairman and President of Rwanda, Meets with Liu Jianchao

Kigali, July 27th—Paul Kagame, Chairman of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) and President of Rwanda, met here today with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Liu conveyed the warm greetings from President Xi Jinping to Kagame. He said, in recent years, President Xi Jinping and Your Excellency President have continued to lead the development direction of the two Parties and the two countries. Exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in various fields have been maintained at a high level. The two sides share many similarities in governance strategies and development concepts. The Chinese side is willing to, together with the Rwandan side, deepen political mutual trust, firmly support each other, strengthen strategic integration, enhance unity and friendship, and jointly promote the great cause of national development. The Chinese side hopes that the two sides will further deepen exchanges and mutual learning in party building, strengthen strategic communication between the ruling parties, continuously improve the party's governance capacity building, and jointly cope with challenges.

Liu said, we are glad to see that Rwanda successfully achieved national reconciliation and economic and social transformation and development. The Chinese side firmly supports Rwanda in following a development path that suits its own national conditions, and is willing to be a companion on Rwanda's way forward. The Chinese side will work with the Rwandan side to promote the Belt and Road cooperation and push the implementation of the achievements of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Rwanda, so that the friendship between China and Rwanda and China and Africa will be more deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

Kagame asked Liu to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping, and happily recalled the meetings between both sides during President Xi Jinping's visit to Rwanda and his visit to China. Kagame said, Rwanda and China boast friendly and strong relations and very broad cooperation prospects. He thanked China for the valuable support in Rwanda's national construction, and said the cooperation under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, in particular, has vigorously promoted Rwanda's economic construction and social development.

Kagame said, the RPF has maintained close contacts with the CPC for a long time. The development achievements made by the Chinese people under the leadership of the CPC have set a positive example for Rwanda. Rwanda will eliminate external interference and stick to a development path that suits its own national conditions. China is a good friend of the Rwandan people and the African people. Rwanda will continue to promote Africa-China cooperation and play a positive role in pushing the development of Africa-China relations and the friendship between the peoples.
