Liu Jianchao Meets with Alberto Blanco Silva, Cuban Ambassador to China

Beijing, August 23rd—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with Alberto Blanco Silva, Cuban Ambassador to China.

Liu welcomed Alberto Blanco Silva, who serves as the Cuban Ambassador to China again. Liu said, the Chinese side has always viewed and developed the special friendly relations between the two Parties and countries from a strategic perspective. At the end of last year, General Secretary Xi Jinping and Miguel Diaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Cuban President, had an in-depth exchange of views on deepening China-Cuba relations in the new era during the latter's visit to China, charting the course for the development of relations between the two Parties and the two countries. The Chinese side is willing to work with the Cuban side to follow the important consensus reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, deepen institutionalized exchanges and cooperation between the two Parties, strengthen high-level exchanges, promote practical cooperation in various fields, go hand in hand on the road of building socialism with respective characteristics and modernization, and build China-Cuba community with a shared future. The Chinese side is willing to strengthen international cooperation with the Cuban side, support Cuba in hosting the Group of 77 and China Havana Summit, promote South-South cooperation and safeguard the interests of developing countries and international fairness and justice.

Alberto Blanco Silva said Cuba and China have a profound traditional friendship, and thanked the Chinese side for its long-term firm support for Cuba's just cause. The Cuban side admires General Secretary Xi Jinping's commitment to the people-centered development concept and achievements like poverty alleviation the CPC and the Chinese people made under his leadership. China's development experience and practice have further enhanced the Cuban side's confidence in adhering to the principle of independence and exploring a development path that suits its own national conditions. The Cuban side is willing to strengthen high-level exchanges of visits with the CPC, deepen mutual learning of experience in party building and state governance, promote cooperation in various fields between Cuba and China, and jointly promote the development of bilateral relations and the cause of socialism in the new era. The Cuban side is willing to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Chinese side in multilateral mechanisms such as the Group of 77 and China, the China-CELAC Forum and the BRICS, promote Latin America-China relations, unite the forces of the Global South, and jointly build a more just international order.
