Liu Jianchao Meets with a Delegation of CPN (Unified Marxist-Leninist) Senior Official

Beijing, September 11th—Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, met here today with a delegation of senior officials of the Communist Party of Nepal(CPN) (Unified Marxist Leninist) led by Shankar Pokhrel, General Secretary of the CPN (Unified Marxist-Leninist).

Liu said, in recent years, both China and Nepal have actively implemented the outcomes of President Xi Jinping's visit to Nepal and the important consensus reached between the leaders of the two countries, accelerating bilateral cooperation in various fields. The Chinese side appreciates the consistent friendly stance towards China by various political parties in Nepal and firmly believes that the CPN (Unified Marxist-Leninist) will continue to play a positive role in promoting the development of bilateral relations. During your visit to China, you have attended the 2023 Smart China Expo and will also attend the thematic briefing on the Stories of the CPC in Qinghai. It is believed that this visit will further enhance mutual political trust, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and achieve common development.

Liu said, the CPC is willing to strengthen strategic communication with the CPN (Unified Marxist-Leninist), deepen the experience exchange in state governance and administration, strengthen friendly exchanges between organizations such as labor unions, youth groups, and women's groups from both sides, and explore "political party + locality" cooperation to better benefit the people. As a responsible major country, China has always upheld the principles of equality between both large and small nations and adheres to the principles of equality, mutual benefit, and friendliness in its cooperation with Nepal. It is hoped that both sides will continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, enhance communication and coordination in international and multilateral affairs, and further push China-Nepal strategic partnership of cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship for development and prosperity for constant development.

Pokhrel expressed gratitude to the International Department of the CPC Central Committee for inviting the delegation to visit China and for the thoughtful arrangements. He said, during the visit, I visited and learnt about the new western land-sea corridor, rural revitalization, the development of emerging industries, and party building at primary level in Chongqing, which greatly inspired me. Through attending the thematic briefing on the Stories of the CPC in Qinghai, we look forward to gaining a deeper understanding of the achievements and experiences of the CPC in leading the Chinese people in economic and social development and poverty alleviation. Nepal has benefited from China's development and looks forward to seizing new opportunities brought about by Chinese modernization.

The CPN (Unified Marxist-Leninist) attaches great importance to consolidating its traditional friendship with the CPC, strengthening exchanges at all levels and institutionalized exchanges, and promoting cooperation in areas such as party building theories, cadre training, and youth organizations. The Nepali side hopes to align its development strategies with initiatives such as the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle, fostering cooperation in economy, trade, agriculture, tourism, and locality, and enhancing connectivity. We welcome Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in Nepal, promoting people-to-people bond and deepening the friendly relations between our two countries. The Nepali side firmly upholds the One-China principle and appreciates the Chinese side's steadfast support on issues concerning Nepal's core interests. China is an important force in safeguarding regional peace, and it is hoped that both sides will strengthen communication on international affairs and contribute to regional stability and development.
